California Designated National Blue Ribbon School

Camarena Elementary has been recognized as a 2025 National Blue Ribbon School, one of the nation’s highest honors for public and private schools. This prestigious designation is awarded by the U.S. Department of Education through the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program, a key component of the California Department of Education’s California School Recognition Program.
Established in 1982, the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program honors schools for overall academic excellence or for significant progress in closing achievement gaps among student groups. The award affirms the collective efforts of students, educators, families, and the community in creating a safe, welcoming environment where high levels of learning thrive.
Camarena Elementary is one of only 31 schools in California to receive this honor in 2025, one of just 11 elementary schools statewide, and the only elementary school in San Diego County to earn the designation in 2025.
